N & K Nails
A nail salon in Southaven, Mississippi, running on a slow, templated CMS site. We rebuilt it as a fast, modern single-page experience that matches the quality of the in-salon visit, then migrated it off a legacy platform without losing a single position in local search.
The live site, desktop & mobile
The brief
The salon’s existing site was generic, slower than it needed to be, and harder to maintain, a full database-and-plugin stack for what is essentially a brochure site. Content was fragmented across separate /services/ and /gallery/ pages, and because the salon already ranked in local search, any rebuild had to preserve that equity rather than reset it. The brief: make it feel premium, make it easier to run, and don’t lose a single position in search.
What we did
Editorial, boutique design
Rebuilt around the salon’s own brand colors, a warm orange and golden amber against deep navy and a soft cream base, with a display serif paired to a clean sans for a spa-like, boutique tone. The client’s real photography runs throughout, so the site reflects their actual work, not stock imagery.
Single-page, no database
Rebuilt the front end in Vue 3 and Tailwind as one self-contained page, no database, no plugins, no version-update treadmill. What is essentially a brochure site is now hosted as fast static files instead of a full database-driven CMS stack.
Interactive touches throughout
A floating tempered-glass navigation bar, an animated services marquee, expandable service cards, a filterable photo gallery with a full-screen lightbox, an auto-rotating testimonials carousel, and scroll-reveal animations that bring the page to life as you move through it.
Accessible by design
Every interactive element is keyboard-navigable, and the site respects reduced-motion preferences, so the animations never get in the way for visitors who’d rather not have them.
Clean platform migration
Migrated off a managed, database-driven CMS platform onto a fast static host, eliminating the database and plugin overhead entirely. Lower maintenance, faster loads, and effectively free to run.
SEO preserved, not reset
The salon already ranked and had indexed pages, so we 301-redirected the old /services/ and /gallery/ URLs to their new on-page sections, preserving search equity through the rebuild rather than starting from zero.
The hard part
The real challenge wasn’t the design: it was moving a site that already had search rankings onto a completely new platform without losing them. A careless rebuild can wipe out years of local SEO overnight.
So we treated the migration as carefully as the redesign: the old /services/ and /gallery/ URLs were 301-redirected to their new on-page sections, preserving the link equity Google had already assigned them. We added complete on-page SEO, unique title and meta description, canonical URL, Open Graph and Twitter cards, and a NailSalon structured-data block feeding Google the salon’s hours, address, phone, and rating.
Then robots.txt, an XML sitemap, and a branded 404 page went in, and everything was resubmitted through Google Search Console, so the new, faster site inherited the old one’s search presence instead of starting from scratch.
